Launch of the regional LifeWatch.be prototype portal

The new website of the Flemish LifeWatch project went live on 12 November, 2012.

Flemish contribution to LifeWatch launched

On Tuesday 8 May 2012 the Flemish Minister of Innovation Ingrid Lieten launched the Flemish contribution to Life Watch, which will be coordinated by the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) and the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO).

Bird tracking system: prototype of a LifeWatch virtual laboratory

Tracking bird movement and behaviour at multiple scales in space and time is no easy task. A team at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) developed a flexible, state of the art, Bird Tracking System, the UvA-BiTS (http://www.uva-bits.nl/). It is a prototype of a LifeWatch virtual lab.

LifeWatch research infrastructure starts construction in 2011

The initial country consortium establishing the LifeWatch research infrastructure agreed to finance the start-up activities for the infrastructure construction. These countries will host the Common Facilities of LifeWatch.
