In the week of 5-9 February, the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) – host of Aphia, the online platform behind WoRMS and its many subregisters – welcomed Mollusca-experts for 4 days, to expand the content of MolluscaBase with their freshwater and terrestrial representatives and to document species traits. -

Katja Guilini is passing on her chief editor responsibilities after leading Nemys since 2015. Meanwhile, the register will evolve towards a fully global initiative, soon to include freshwater and terrestrial representatives. -

Just before the end of 2017, an Open Access Opinion Paper was published in the European Journal of Taxonomy by the WoRMS Steering Committee, on the importance of nomenclatural consistency and how this is being dealt with in WoRMS, based on its 10-year experience. This paper also frames within the 10 year anniversary celebration of WoRMS. -

Turbellarian WoRMS portal launched Turbellarian WoRMS portal launched
A new World list is made available on the Turbellarian worms, including the Acoelomorpha, Catenulida and Rhabditophora. This World List now contains 3.425 accepted species names and is one of the most complete existing resources for Turbellarian taxa. -
