Marine Regions hosts introductory meeting for renewed Editorial Community
In June 2023, Marine Regions received official endorsement from the Ocean Decade as a Project Action entitled 'From global gazetteer to global community'. Among the five areas of action for this Project Action is a key objective to "revive the editorial community and establish sustainable relations with these key contributors."

As part of this initiative, an introductory meeting for the renewed editorial community took place in May 2024. This gathering brought together both existing and new editors, including experts in the fields of both marine gazetteers and maritime boundaries. The Editorial Community will actively contribute to the improvement and maintenance of the Marine Regions database by identifying valuable data sources, monitoring data quality and offering expertise to refine or expand the database

Going forward, Marine Regions will hold annual meetings for the editorial community, alternating between a focus on the gazetteer and maritime boundaries products. The full list of contributing editors is available for consultation on the Marine Regions website.
