Join the webinar about the importance and interest of e-taxonomy

On the 23rd of June, the Antarctic Biodiversity Portal organizes the online webinar ‘availability and digitization of identification keys for the Southern Ocean’. Registrations are restricted.

In this online webinar, presenters will illustrate the importance and interest of e-taxonomy, with a specific focus on Xper3, a dedicated platform to create identification keys (open-access and collaborative, polytomous logic, tools assessing the efficiency of the key …). Overall presentations will be realized alongside illustrations of recent case studies of Southern Ocean keys. A time slot will be devoted to showcase how to create Xper3 keys as well as how to use the platform.

The organization of this webinar and the support of the Data Management Team (DMT) are supported by LifeWatch Belgium, part of the E-Science European LifeWatch Infrastructure for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research. LifeWatch is a distributed virtual laboratory, which is used for different aspects of biodiversity research. Within Lifewatch the SCAR Antarctic Biodiversity aims to develop a virtual Research Environment for studying Antarctic Biodiversity. The Species Information Backbone of LifeWatch aims at bringing together taxonomic and species-related data and at filling the gaps in our knowledge. In addition, it gives support to taxonomic & thematic experts by providing them logistic and financial support for meetings and workshops related to expanding the content and enhancing the quality of taxonomic databases.
