Expertise

Dr. Ellen Pape coordinates the baseline biological and environmental studies in the GSR concession area in the Clarion Clipperton Fracture zone (northeast Pacific) , a region of interest for deep-sea mining. In addition, she studies the biodiversity of the meiofauna, and notably the nematodes, in this polymetallic nodule ecosystem. For her PhD, which framed in the ESF-EuroDEEP BIOFUN and the FP7 HERMIONE project, she studied the biodiversity and ecosystem function of nematodes in contrasting southern European deep-sea environments through field observational studies and experimental work.
