Abstract |
Vegetation such as mangroves and saltmarshes plays an important role for coastal protection. However the mechanism to dissipate energy is not clear yet. One of the reasons is due to the lack of knowledge about drag coefficient. Hence, a numerical model can be useful to study the basic mechanism. In this study, an applicability of the SPH-based DualSPHysics model to derive drag coefficient in vegetation using a simple case is explored. The obtained Strouhal number, cross flow magnitude and drag coefficient are compared to the values in literature. Numerical outputs in DualSPHysics are in good agreement with the values in literature. Preliminary results show the capacity to apply the DualSPHysics model to the derivation of drag coefficient in vegetation. |
