Description
This historical dataset, available as "Pola" expedition: Mollusks - Biodiversity Heritage Library (biodiversitylibrary.org) pages 1-36, is related to the expeditions of the S. M. ship "Pola" in the eastern Mediterranean and the Adriatic. The great depths of the eastern Mediterranean and the Adriatic Sea are considered very poor, even poorer than those of the western basin. moreThe whole report is separated into two parts. The first part deals with the threshing results in the eastern Mediterranean (Expeditions I-IV, 1890-1893), while the second those in the Adriatic (Expedition V, 1894). Each part is preceded by a list of the stations that have delivered molluscs, with a precise explanation of the geographical location, habitat, depth and date of the sampling event. This historical paper is digitised through a Citizen Science Workshop organised by the Hellenic Centre in Marine Research in Lecce, 15 November 2023, using the Zooniverse platform.
