Description
The Ocean Sampling Day (OSD) is a simultaneous sampling campaign of the world’s oceans which took place on June 24th, 2014. These cumulative samples, related in time, space and environmental parameters, provide insights into fundamental rules describing microbial diversity and function and contribute to the blue economy through the identification of novel, ocean-derived biotechnologies. This dataset describes samples collected by Flanders Marine Institute. Scope Themes: Biology, Biology > Ecology - biodiversity, Biology > Plankton > Bacterioplankton, Water composition > Bulk chemistry (e.g. pH, TCO2), Water composition > Dissolved gases, Water composition > Nutrients, Water composition > Suspended matter - turbidity Keywords: Marine/Coastal, Biodiversity, Biological sampling, DNA, Environmental surveys, Marine metagenome, Metabarcoding, Metagenomics, ANE, Belgium, Belgian Continental Shelf (BCS) Geographical coverage ANE, Belgium, Belgian Continental Shelf (BCS) [Marine Regions] Temporal coverage
