On 8 and 9 November 2019, the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS) and the Bats Working Group of Natuurpunt Study organize a two-day symposium on bats migration. On Friday, participants assemble in Ostend - in the offices of VLIZ - for an international seminar on bats migration along the North Sea coast as an underexposed phenomenon with consequences for spatial planning and landscape management (language: English). On Saturday, the location is Tillegem Castle in Bruges, where the anniversary seminar will highlight 40 years of bat research by volunteers (languages: English, Dutch and French). The two-day symposium is made possible thanks to the IHD operation of the Houtland Regional Landscape and is part of the EU micro-Interreg project Chiro’Act. With the support of Lifewatch Belgium. You can find the program here. The program on Friday is fully booked. No less than 99 participants will be present! There are some places left for the program on Saturday. For last-minute subscription untill Nov. 4th, please contact Bob Vandendriessche at bob.vandendriessche@west-vlaanderen.be or +32/477.75.74.91
