Abstract
In order to better understand the environmental impacts of these solutions, and specifically their impact on the aquifer, the research was based on the following research questions: How will the double dyke system affect the aquifer? What is the role of the marsh in preventing saltwater intrusion? To answer those questions, a simple 2D analytical model was developed to simulate the development of the saline interface with the creation of a marsh according to various scenarios. The data used to create the model were collected through bibliographic research, scientific dissemination maps (Freshem.nl, Dinoloket.nl, Ahn.nl) and from the research of other students and researchers involved in the "Zeeland 2121" project.
