Abstract
    In May 2022 the ichneumonid wasp Gravenhorstia picta Boie, 1836 was observed in the nature reserve ‘Kalmthoutse Heide’ (Belgian part). It had not been seen for nearly 130 years in Belgium. The host of this very rare parasitoid wasp is the (equally rare) moth Lasiocampa trifolii (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775). In this paper we discuss the history and geography of the reported occurrences in Belgium and the Netherlands, and we speculate about future findings.
