Abstract
Injection of 3,3',5-Triodo-L-Thyronine (T3) significantly increased the oxygen consumption of eels (Anguilla anguilla) maintained at temperatures of 25°C and 28°C but not at 20°C. Added at various concentrations to the diet, T3 decreased the body protein of eels and increased the body fat content, though without affecting the fatty acid composition. Aldolase activity was significantly higher when T3 was added to the diet.
