During the Chelonia Training Workshop 2017 (14-19 May), the application of C-PODs in the LifeWatch observatory was elaborated in Cornwall, United Kingdom.

During one of the workshops at the VLIZ members’ day (VLIZ Ledendag) on 20 June 2017, participants could learn about molluscs and the global taxonomical database from the WoRMS team (part of the LifeWatch Species Information Backbone).

From 6 to 8 December 2017, another LifeWatch Jerico-Next Flow Cytometry Data Analysis Workshop was organized at VLIZ, in cooperation with Rijkswaterstaat, CNRS-LOG, UGent and CEFAS. The goal of this workshop was to analyse the data from the joint LifeWatch Jerico-Next cruise in May 2017, to couple the sensor data with the stations, and to identify spatial patterns in de phytoplankton communities in the Channel, southern North Sea, the Thames estuary and the Scheldt, Rhine and Meuse estuaries.

LifeWatch Data Archaeology Workshop: Analysis of historical data on bycatch in shrimp fisheries along the Belgian Coast.

On the 8th of May 2018, nine experts met at the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) in Ostend to explore what type of information is hidden in a century of historical data on bycatch in shrimp fisheries.

Training the OBIS nodes and the trainers (at the OBIS nodes and OceanTeacher regional training centres) was considered a top priority by the OBIS Steering Committee.

From 14 to 15 December 2017, the LifeWatch Bird Tracking Network was presented three times at the UvA-BiTs Gull Working Group Meeting in Amsterdam.

During 22 - 27 September 2017, the European Tracking Network was presented at the 6th International Bio-Logging Science Symposium in Lake Constance, Germany.
