LifeWatch-WoRMS MolluscaBase Editor Workshop

During this workshop, the taxonomic editors of the Mollusca in WoRMS and the WoRMS Data Management Team (DMT) discussed the creation of MolluscaBase, a Global Species Database aimed at covering all marine, freshwater and terrestrial mollusks. Although the marine mollusk species list is nearing completion, a similar authoritative online resource for non-marine mollusks is lacking. This workshop aimed at involving the existing small-scale non-marine mollusk initiatives and develop common grounds for a future collaboration.

LifeWatch-WoRMS Fossil Workshop 2014

During this workshop the WoRMS Data Management Team and taxonomic editors discussed the amount of fossil taxa to be added, existing sources for fossil information (both online and offline), possible grounds for collaboration and improvements and additions to the entry of fossil range data into Aphia. Within WoRMS, there are currently 19 phyla which contain one or more fossil species.
