Description
From May - October 2002, NIOO-CEME conducted an experiment in which during 4 days 13C labelled glucose was injected in the top 10 cm of the sediment of the intertidal Molenplaat in the Western Scheldt, The Netherlands. more

This experiment was set up to unravel the importance of bacterial carbon for the benthic food web. For this purpose, sediment samples were taken during and after the injection of 13C-glucose to measure the building-in of 13C in bacterial lipids and in benthic organisms. The amount of respired carbon (13C-DIC) was also measured. This database contains all collected data.
