World Register of Deep-Sea Species (WoRDSS)

url: https://www.marinespecies.org/deepsea/

The WoRDSS site was launched in December 2012 as part of the International Network for Scientific Investigation of Deep-sea Ecosystems (INDEEP). This deep-sea register is a comprehensive database of known deep-sea species and is presented as a thematic species database (TSD) of WoRMS, with all data dynamically linked to WoRMS and their team of taxonomic editors. Through WoRDSS, high quality specimen images of deep-sea species have been collected, which are available on both the website and the iOS app (Deep Sea ID). The latter allows offline-viewing of the complete database and imagery to assist with identifications at sea and in the laboratory. WoRDSS also provides taxonomic references (sources), allowing easier access to identification literature for researchers and educators.
