Two-day seminar on bat migration in the European lowlands

On 8 and 9 November 2019, the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS) and the Bats Working Group of Natuurpunt Study organize a two-day symposium on bats migration.

On Friday, participants assemble in Ostend - in the offices of VLIZ - for an international seminar on bats migration along the North Sea coast as an underexposed phenomenon with consequences for spatial planning and landscape management (language: English).

OceanObs'19

As part of the decadal conference series, OceanObs’19 will galvanize the ocean observing community ranging from scientists to end users. European Tracking Network workshop @ ICFT 2019

The European Tracking Network (ETN) is a recently-launched initiative to integrate all European aquatic animal tracking in one network. The overarching objective is to ensure the transition from a loosely-coordinated set of existing national and regional telemetry initiatives scattered in Europe to a sustainable, efficient and integrated pan-European biotelemetry network embedded in the international context of other similar networks outside Europe and the new AtlantOS observing program.

Science meets Regions: artificial intelligence, more than a hype?

During this very interesting AI-day at the Flemish Parliament, Klaas Deneudt from LifeWatch VLIZ will give a talk about "Artificial intelligence applications in marine biodiversity observations".

During the coffee and lunch breaks, the FlowCam software will be demonstrated. The FlowCam is part of the LifeWatch Marine Observatory.

This event will be in Dutch.
